To the Land of Ginger

Chinese are very famous with the use of GINGER in their daily lives. They use it to make remedy oil, tea and also yummy cooking.

This time we have planned for a visit to Bentong, Pahang. This not so small town is very, or should I say extremely famous with their ginger production (farmed locally). We went straight to a Restaurant named Foon Lock (Canton Kitchen). It isquite well-known for its  delicious dishes. (motormouth also have mentioned this place in his blog)

We ordered their signature ginger bee hoon (vermicelli) with chicken. The amount of ginger they put in the soup is sooo much, but yet not too pungent.

Up next is their locally grown vegetable "Tin Chat", it tasted slightly like the malabar spinach, but the leaves are smaller, the texture after cooked is smoother and sweeter.

This is the meat dish. Stirred fry Pork Belly. The thinly sliced pork belly (I believe they quick-deep fried it before hand) is slightly sweet and salty, resembling BBQ sauce. Nice and crunchy.

Lastly, Stuffed "Tau Foo Pok" (tau foo pok- it's deep-fried tau fu, leaving the outward skin golden brown). This dish is just okay for me cause I like a different type of stuffed meat with tau foo pok.

After filling our tummy with nice main course we went for the famous home made ice cream!! This shop, Kow Po is mentioned on the gobentong website. Here's the link. http://www.gobentong.com/en/food/snacks/kow-po-ice-cream-house
Yay Ice- cream. We had the vanilla, coconut, peanut and corn. They have a varieties of flavours to choose from, but we arrived late, so most of them are sold out. (hmmmm- proof that they make it fresh daily?)
They also sell ice-kacang (ABC), ice-cendol for all those who lovesss dessert please drop by and try.

Lovely Trip to Genting + a stop at Fook Kee Claypot Chic Rice

So so cool.
I'm back again! Missed the weather here so so much. This is another great CNY trip. We have been makan-ing nonstop. Breakfast, brunch, luncheon, tea break, dinner, supper and late night snacks. This time, it's a relaxing trip, we jalan more instead of rushing like the trip before this.
Too bad there's no loo in the Ripley's Believe It or Not exhibition centre and you know, we can't manage finish exploring the whole place in 2hours. We thought we could spend a little bit more time there. So heads up for you guys, visit the bathroom and limit your water intake 1/2hour before visiting the Ripley's Believe It or Not. If you're going to have details viewing for all items, I say it'll take probably 4-5hours.

Alright, here are the pictures of foooood & fun we had.

Kebab and lamb shoba with naan at the Spice Garden

Their lamb shoba are irresistible. The lamb meat are cook with slow fire for 24hours. Superb.

So sorry, forgot to take the picture of the lamb shoba up close. The picture above with the reddish gravy is the one. Will do next time when I visit there again.

Genting Showroom

We don't have 1901 hotdog in Ipoh, so we decided to give it a try. Not bad.

This is my favourite Gui Ling Gao.
(It's a jelly form of Chinese herbs taken together with some honey)

There's a slight bitterness to the taste but it's a soothing kind of bitter. Give it a try, you'll love it. Not forgetting to mention, there's many benefits for frequent consumption (1-2/week). It reduces the internal 'heat' that causes minor illnesses such as flu and fever, it reduces the ache breakouts and goodness for ladies, silky smooth skin.

Mixed Grill platters in New Orleans Barbeque

Pizza from Pizza factory- One of those yummy ones for the price we paid

Claypot Chicken from Fook Kee, Kampar (en route back to Ipoh)

This is one of my favourite Claypot Rice. No sticky, uncooked rice, just heavenly fragrance with a dash of stinky salted fish, dried Chinese pork sausage & dazzling spring onion. Some may like the charred rice at the bottom of the claypot, I personally don't fancy that. I like the smell of the charred pot, but not my rice. That is why I prefer Fook Kee over Heng Kee (another Claypot round the corner). Try Google Fook Kee Chicken Claypot Rice, Kampar. I am sure you'll find tonnes of post about it.
Oh ya, they are open from 6pm to 10.30pm and closed on every Wednesday.

That's all for this round. Would love to post about all these food again in the future, hoping they taste the same or at least 99.9% the same. =P
